LOA members may not claim any law enforcement status, privilege or authority based solely on their LOA membership or possession of LOA Organizational License Plates.
The Law Officers Association of Baltimore County affords our members the opportunity to obtain LOA Organizational License Plates from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).
The LOA License Plate Committee administers the LOA License Plate Program. LOA Members seeking to obtain or retain LOA Organizational License Plates must adhere to all requirements of the LOA License Plate Policy.
Active and Associate LOA Members in good standing may apply to obtain LOA Organizational License Plates. Applicants must appear in person at a regularly stated meeting of the LOA and submit a written application on the forms provided by the LOA License Plate Committee for a Organizational License Plate for a specific vehicle, and attach a check for the required fees, a copy of the vehicle registration showing they are the owner of the subject vehicle, and a copy of their current LOA Membership Card. Upon request, the License Plate Committee Chairperson may grant a specific exemption to requirement to personally apply at a stated meeting.
LOA Organizational License Plates will not be displayed on a vehicle bearing any commercial or corporate markings, labels, or advertising.
LOA Organizational License Plates will not be transferred by a LOA member to any other person by a subsequent transfer in ownership of the vehicle without separate application to the LOA License Plate Committee.
LOA Members not in good standing as certified by the LOA Treasurer are not eligible to obtain or retain LOA Organizational License Plates. Upon certification and notification by the LOA Treasurer that a member is not in good standing, a member currently possessing plates must resolve their status within 60 days or return the LOA Organizational Plates to the MVA.
The LOA Secretary will also provide separate and timely notification to the MVA to cease renewing and recover the member’s LOA Organizational License Plates.
